Therefore everything that makes a Triad dangerous is far more so with the Red Dragons when it comes to magic. They have mages who have been trained by the great dragon Lung and whom are its agents. Red Dragon Assets Magic Īmong the magic-heavy Triads, the Red Dragons stand out. In fact metahumans have specific advantage in that the Triads perceive them as unlikely to be spies for the Yakuza, for obvious reasons (especially trogs). Outside of China the Red Dragons like other Triads, make it their policy to approach those metahumans who are disaffected because they can't join the Yakuza or Mafia and recruit them. In Hong Kong, the slums like in any other metroplex in the world are thick with metahumans (especially in the Kowloon Peninsula), from which the Red Dragons like the other major Triads have been recruiting. Within their ranks they have metahumans of every race, as they could care less what type you are. In the Hamburg metroplex of the AGS, the Red Dragons are recruiting extensively from among the Southeast Asian refugees (Indochinese) from the Year of the Comet, especially from among the Vietnamese. Outside of China in other cities, the Red Dragons likewise recruit non-Chinese. In the city of Hong Kong, there is a large pool of non-Chinese immigrants from which the Red Dragon recruits including Vietnamese, Filipinos, Koreans, and Indians (especially in the slums of the Kowloon Peninsula). Most members of the Triad are Han Chinese and male, and except for one known individual all of the higher ranking members are Chinese. They even accept the transgendered into the syndicate. Women are also accepted into the Triad and at least two are in the inner circle. They have in the organization, mundanes who are augmented (including those with cyberware) and those with zero augmentation. In the syndicate are both Awakened and Technomancers, both of whom are also represented within the inner circle. They have both humans and metahumans within their ranks, and at least two metahumans are within the inner circle. Not only do they have Chinese within the Triad, but they also have non-Chinese (one of which is in the inner circle). The Red Dragons accept nearly anyone into their organization. Serving as the Incense Master is the aging Mao Bei, a direct vassal of Lung. Currently the dragonhead (Lodge Master) is Hsiao Wai-Gong. Most of the higher ranking members within the Red Dragons are Awakened, either mages or physical adepts. It consists of the physical adept William Xian, the female troll and technomancer Zarah, and Master Wu the elven mage. The power behind the Red Dragons and its true master is the Great Dragon Lung, who has several operatives within the syndicate including an elite team known as " The One" which is part of the Triad's inner circle. The Triad has dozens of branches in five of the six populated continents, and though those branches are either autonomous or independent they all pay tribute to Hong Kong. They are extremely well-financed and therefore are able to start up branches anywhere there is a market worth exploiting. The Red Dragon Association is the most united Triad syndicate in the world, member gangs operating closely with a largely unified vision. They have also expanded their influence into Russia, specifically the Russian Far East and the island of Kamchatka, and possibly as far west as Lake Baikal (north of Mongolia). In Europe, the Red Dragons are expanding in the Allied German States with the assistance of Wuxing, Inc. Their most recent coup was establishing themselves in the Yakuza's stronghold ( Japan) and expanding their network throughout the country. While the Red Dragons have had setbacks, they have steadily made gains at the expense of the Yakuza. They have also been expanding into Yakuza territories, which has resulted in turf wars in Southeast Asia, Oceania, and the Pacific Northwest of the former United States. In the neighboring countries, they have absorbed the smaller local Triads, and seized chunks of the regional and local criminal markets.
Since 2021, the Red Dragons have expanded their empire throughout the Pacific Rim. In modern times, the Red Dragons competed with the Yellow Lotus Triad, eventually waging a global war in the underworld from 2062-2063. This ultimately destroyed the Yellow Lotuses, leaving the Red Dragons as the dominant global Triad. In 2017, with the assistance of the Great Dragon Lung, their main rivals in Hong Kong at the time, Majestic Peacock Association, were destroyed. The enmity between the two dates back at least to the Boxer Rebellion (1899-1901).
